Let’s go back to the LG S95QR soundbar revealed by the Korean manufacturer in December 2021, a few weeks before the opening of CES Las Vegas 2022, to find out its estimated price and some details in terms of specifications.
9.1.5, the LG S95QR is a classically designed soundbar, 1.2m long, 6.3cm high and 13.5cm deep, complete with a wireless subwoofer (20cm boom) and two surround speakers, also wireless.
LG S95QR, up-firing center speaker
As pointed out during last December’s presentation, the big evolution offered by the LG S95Q is the optional Up-Firing center speaker, three in total on the soundbar, to which two other matching surround speakers need to be added.
LG S95QR Key Features
In addition to Dolby Atmos/DTS:X compatibility, LG S95QY specifications list a Class D amplifier with a total output of 880W, Imax Enhanced certification, 135° sound propagation for surround speakers, more stable wireless connection for improved sound quality, not to mention already about the exclusive Meridian Horizon technology, capable of converting a stereo signal up to 7.1 format.
New this year, the Music mode control is changing: when a stereo signal is present, only two channels (right and left) of the soundbar will be automatically implemented, and not all channels. Of course, the stereo signal can still be expanded at will. And to finish the chapter on stereo, the LG Q95QR is Hi-Res Audio (96kHz/24bit) certified.
Namely, the surround speakers offer a 4.0.2 configuration. So each includes two side-by-side direct-firing 135° open-angle speakers and two HP Up-Firing speakers for the height surround channels.
AI Sound Pro, voice assistants and connectivity
There is an AI Sound Pro function directly from the brand’s TVs. This means that real-time settings made by the TV based on the nature of the signal are transferred to the soundbar for even better sound reproduction. In addition, the software features AI-assisted room calibration to perfectly match the sound to the acoustics of the room.
We can also note support for major music streaming platforms, as well as voice control via Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. Recall once again the functions of AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth, not to mention the ability to connect an additional Wi-Fi Wowcast module for wireless communication with a compatible TV.
Namely, the audio signal transmission between the TV and the Wowcast module is not compressed and is provided up to 7.1.4. To be precise, the LG Wowcast module (actually an eARC wireless add-on) works with all LG Wi-Fi soundbars, so it can be associated with the model of the year. It should even work with all Wi-Fi TVs when paired with a suitable LG soundbar, although this has yet to be confirmed.
The LG S95QR’s HDMI 2.1 connector (2 in/1 out) controls the eARC, VRR and ALLM functions. The same goes for HDR10 and HDR Dolby Vision control. On the other hand, 4K/120 compatibility is not required. To complete the picture, there is also an optical input.
Availability announced for the month of April. Estimated price: 1699 euros.
