Originally launched in 2013, Lapierre today introduces its new XR and XRM new XC platform. for XCO and XC Marathon races.

Lightness dictated the choice of kinematics and rear triangle technology, the goal was to go below the 1800g bar in the Team version and use the best carbon fibers. To successfully combine these two opposite characteristics, Lapierre engineers decided to remove any restrictions on the seat stays when the rider is on the bike and the suspension is in the “SAG” position. Thus, there is no “pre-tensioning” that could reduce the level of sensitivity of the suspension response. So the rear shock is even more responsive than on older generation XR mountain bikes.

Thanks to new kinematics and carbon construction, as well as a shorter rear triangle, the new XR/XRM is more efficient both on flats and uphill with better rear wheel traction despite a more aggressive front wheel position. As circuit and cross-country practices become more and more advanced, Lapierre wanted to combine a geometry that would be more secure on technical descents with a more open head angle to provide confidence and more safety to the rider on fast and difficult descents.

Thanks to this kinetics, the “Flex stay” seat remains in a neutral position with 26% sag, regardless of the rider’s height and weight. The unique Flex Stay seat stay concept features a flex that first decreases at the beginning of the stroke and then becomes progressive again at the end of compression.
