FIGAROVOX/TRIBUNA – A few weeks before the presidential election, Thibault Bechetoile, president of Croissance Plus, and 120 entrepreneurs are calling for a strategic and sovereign economic policy so that the French market will regain its competitiveness.
Croissance Plus is a network of entrepreneurs committed to growth.
Are we participating in the presidential campaign? For 2 years now, news and discussion of ideas have been crushed by a pandemic. Today, the war in Ukraine has plunged our continent into a reality that many would like to forget. Many questions that have been dormant until now emerge in our good memory with unexpected force, diluting political disputes in the outback of the world: how to regain sovereignty? How can we restore our strength? How can we guarantee our own safety?
These challenges are serious and will fundamentally change the structure of public debate over the next few years. However, as entrepreneurs, we are concerned that some topics are left out when they are important answers to the questions of our time.
The competitiveness of our companies remains reduced compared to our competitors, including those in the European Union itself.
Signed Entrepreneurs
The competitiveness of our companies remains reduced compared to our competitors, including those in the European Union itself. Local taxes, labor costs: France ranks first in the OECD in fees and taxes, which limits the ability of entrepreneurs to create the economic structure that the French rely on. These onerous additional costs are rooted in a costly public system with no clear guidelines. Embedded in poorly calibrated redistributive spending, shackled by outdated shackles, the public service struggles to satisfy users who have learned about the pot of roses in 24 months: disaster hospitals, inadequate education, exemplary protection. The list of grievances formulated by our fellow citizens is long, and government spending is huge – almost 2/3 of the national wealth.
Entrepreneurs and at the same time the main participants in our social system, we are convinced that in order to get our country off track, we must agree to change our software and rely more on the land, believing in the virtues of Freedom. French sense of responsibility. This is more than a Pavlovian reflex, this call is specific and requires decisive decisions. In order to create a more entrepreneurial society, we first believe that certain basic conditions must be met in order to give the producing tissue back the oxygen it needs. To do this, our public spending must necessarily fall in the long run to return below 50% of GDP. The state and communities should rely more on citizens, entrepreneurs and associations to solve problems as close to the place as possible. Employment, integration, education: for the entrepreneur, whatever his structure, there is no limit in solving the social problems that we face.
With regard to corporate finance, it is time to develop a more strategic and more sovereign economic policy.
Signed Entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurs and at the same time the main providers of wealth, jobs and technology, we believe that in order to reconnect with our independence and our economic sovereignty, some projects in the field of taxation and financing can no longer be postponed. With regard to taxes and duties, it is no longer possible to counteract the momentary financial interest of local authorities, which justifies the retention of taxes on production and the economic and industrial development of the country.
With regard to corporate finance, the time has come to develop a more strategic and more sovereign economic policy, structured around three new areas that should be developed as priorities. The first axis is to make greater use of the leveraged effect of public investment by reserving contracts for French or European companies. According to an OpinionWay poll for CroissancePlus last January, 82% of French people are in favor of it, even if it means sacrificing value for money. This strategy is one of the keys to America’s success in technology. Internet, Amazon, Google, SpaceX: all of these adventures were born out of government spending. The second axis: we must significantly increase the amount of capital available to finance the economy and strengthen the capital of companies, the key to investment and international development. To do this, public savings must stop exclusively financing public debt and social housing. In addition, although 14% of GDP is allocated to our pensions, we are in favor of establishing a part of the mandatory collective capitalization that can finance our economy and increase the pensions of beneficiaries. The third and final axis of financial development: in order for this capital to irrigate our ecosystem and energize the business market, we call on government agencies to promote the emergence of a stock market that matches our economic strength, perhaps on a continental scale.

Finally, as entrepreneurs, we advocate that this new entrepreneurial impulse should include a strong redistributive dimension towards all those who will contribute to it. To do this, we would like to implement a major employee equity reform that will allow everyone, including small businesses, to benefit not only from the rewards of work, but also from the products of the capital they invest in creating it. prosper.
At the head of our companies, we feel what everyone gradually observes in their daily lives: an era is ending, and we are entering a more uncertain and more dangerous world. However, we are very confident in our ability to cope and build a new path of balance, prosperity and justice. For this, entrepreneurs are ready to serve their country. Let’s trust them!
