who to vote for? Abstracts

CANDIDATE PROGRAM. The 2022 presidential candidate programs are still being widely discussed this Sunday. The number of undecided has never been so large on election day. Check out the bulletins to find out who to vote for…

For whom to vote? This is a question many French people are still asking themselves this Sunday as they head to the polls. Candidate programs have not yet allowed a significant part of the electorate to decide. Several polls released ahead of this presidential election set an unprecedented level of undecided.

What do the candidate programs for the 2022 presidential election contain? From the extreme left that wants to return to the cause of capitalism, to the extreme right that attacks migration and international exchange, the range of programs is very wide. It is clear that after the election of Emmanuel Macron 5 years ago, the parties that have traditionally structured the political life of France – the left government represented by PS and its allies and the right government represented by LR (or ex-UMP) and its allies – are no longer the most heard.

Candidate agendas for this 2022 presidential election are based on other themes that are still coming from the left/right reading grid. There are very strong positions on identity, immigration, security, education, the way the European Union is rethought. Some programs give the fight against climate change a prominent place, others hardly mention it. Below are the summary programs of the 12 candidates for the 2022 presidential election and a link to more details.
